A.I. fakes! at the Met Gala; TikTok's possible extinction-level event.
Finite Scroll #12
First of all, welcome to all my new subscribers! I hope you stick around forever, and I 100% welcome all feedback on this lil newsletter of mine.
Okay, let's get into an all-new edition of Finite Scroll, shall we?
This week, I and countless others across your social media feeds were 100% duped by A.I.-generated fake fashion images of Katy Perry and Rihanna at the Met Gala. Despite their inauthenticity, all of the posts using the fake images garnered millions of views and engagements. It's okay to admit to being faked out, but it underlines the rise of A.I.-generated sludge across the web and the need for better, more stringent media literacy behaviors. Did you get duped? Let me know!
Have fun clicking around and reading some links I saw this week that I couldn't get off my mind. ✨
